Today we would like to speak about Rio Conco,a long fleuve located in an historical geosite,Sasso Marconi area..All this geographical historical site is protected by unesco and declared a patrimony of humanity for the age,the nature and the animals that live in it.It s a big green area full of rocks and of bushes and woods.There are a lot of different species that live in it:wolfs,dares,eagles and raven.It s situated in the middle of Via degli Dei,a long walk that is located between Bologna and Florence.This fleuve is a prehistorical one and there are a lot of acquatic animal that lives in it:as for exemple,the famous airone cinerino.Within the oasis lies a large portion of the “Balzo dei Rossi, Rio Conco, and Roncaglio Badlands” Geosite of Local Interest. What does it mean?There are very old formation,derived from pliocene epoque,rich in fossils (especially mollusks);there are also some rocks,called ganzole,in which some interesting sedimentary structures are evident.At the end of the valley there is a waterfall approximetely 20 meters high characterized by a travertine flow and the opening of one of the lateral access tunnels to the ancient Roman Aqueduct of Bologna.
